We have 3 stages in Okobom
1. Fating room : This period the lady is well taken care of in terms of food, body massage with adequate water during meals.
2. Ceremonial stage : it comes up barely after three months when it is believe the woman might have recovered fully from the stress of delivery and the baby is also big enough for her return to her normal business.
It is crown with a colourful ceremony, were the woman will intermittently changed her dressing with the different traditional attires bought by the husband and sometimes relative .
okobom have assistant who is her best friend , her job is to carry umbrella for the Okobom just like is done in traditional marriage today. Okobom is always a big event were canopy is set, dj playing good tunes and drinks in excess
3.Visiting Stage : This the last stage were Okobom will be well dressed to visit friends and place of interest. While I was growing up, this is the stage we enjoyed , u can as well call it joy giver stage, because once u spot Okobom definitely u will be blessed with either money, groundnut or any other goodies as the Okobom can afford .
Okobom use to be a beautiful celebration back in the days, so I hereby encourage us to bring back this beautiful memory.
