HISTORY OF OIL BUSINESS

a brief history of oil activities in Eastern Obolo is dated back to 1956 with the discovery of an oil well at Okoroete Urban Market. There was also an evidence of oil discovery at Amazon though  not in commercial quantity compared to the one at Okoroete.

Actually, oil exploration and exploitation started in early 70s in Eastern Obolo  with SPDC commencing their lifting of quality crude oil "The Bonny Light Crude" from Utapaete oil field in Iko Town, Eastern Obolo to the tune of over 15,000 barrels of oil per day between  1970-1989

OFF SHORE FACILITIES

There are more than 60 oil wells drilled by Mobil producing Nigeria, She'll, Elf, Amin and Adds offshore in Eastern Obolo waters.
