 LOCAL GOVERNMENT ELECTION: EASTERN OBOLO ZONING FAVORS COMRADE EMIGBANAM UBULOM      -------------STAKEHOLDERS

As the Local Government Elections draw nearer in Akwa Ibom State, the frontline Chairmanship hopeful in the forthcoming Local Government Poll in Eastern obolo Local Government Area, Comr. Emigbanam Ubulom consults the PDP stakeholders of the area. 

The meeting which had in attendance all the stakeholders in Eastern Obolo LGA such as the Honourable Member representing Ikot Abasi/Eastern Obolo in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Hon. Selinah Ukpatu, the Transition Committee Chairman, Hon. Uro Bill Nango, the Chairman of the Stakeholders Forum, Sir. Hon. Adasi Ubulom, Honorary Special Adviser to the Governor, Rt. Hon. Charles Mbong, the immediate past Chairman of the Local Government Area, Hon. Abraham Odion. Others were Dr. John Ukpatu, Prof. Gibson Okworo, Hon. Loveday Ekoyork and Hon. Sampson Unyeawaji. The meeting also had in attendance Former Permanent Secretary, Mr. Maxwell Ojoko, Hon. Blessing Isotuk and others

The meeting was moderated by Dr. Charles Mbong, Acting Chairman of the Forum as, Sir (Hon) Adasi Ubulom in his magnanimity relinquished his position as the Chairman of Eastern Obolo Stakeholders Forum to Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Charles Mbong. Sir Adasi Ubulom is also the Ward Leader of his own ward, hence, it can be said that the meeting had all the stakeholders from all the wards in Eastern Obolo LGA.

Comrade Emigbanam Ubulom who himself an active player in the politics of Eastern Obolo and whose viable contributions to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) sees to the survival of the party in many turbulent elections, prominent amongst is the 2023 general elections which saw the exodus of many political bigwigs to other political parties.

Comr. Emigbanam Ubulom is a loyal Party man and a verified leader of the Party, who has served the Peoples Democratic Party in various capacities such as Auditor, Acting Chapter Chairman, and the Vice Chairman, PDP Eastern Obolo Chapter. These positions aside his active involvements in Politics span through the space of twenty-one years of loyalty to the Peoples Democratic Party.

The Leading chairmanship aspirant is an intellectual property to the people of Eastern Obolo and has harnessed several qualifications. He is currently a PhD student in two different universities – University of Uyo and Akwa Ibom State University. He is a graduate of University of Calabar where he obtained his BSc in Public Administration and Masters’ Degree from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, in Public Administration. He is a professional Human Resource Manager and a Qualified Public Administrator. 

From his antecedent and pedigree, he is a man of integrity, focus, determination, vision and preparedness. Mr. Emigbanam Ubulom is passionate about the growth and development of Eastern Obolo LGA and his ambition to be the Chairman of Eastern Obolo LGA predates his introduction into active politics in 2003 

The comrade is most equipped for leadership engagements from his vast experience both in the public and private sectors. He is a former staff of Cornerstone Insurance Limited, Calabar, Mega Asset Managers Limited, Lagos and Akwa Ibom State Unified Local Government Services Commission, Uyo. 

Mr. Emigbanam while addressing the stakeholders at the consultative meeting, used the occasion to unveil his Six Points Agenda. In his vocal disposition, he articulated his Six Points Agenda to include: Rural Economic Development, Education for Sustainable Development, Adequate Security Management, Cultural/Tourism Development, Housing Scheme Development and Establishment of Viable Transport Networks.

With his mantra, “Let there be light”, the Public Administrator assured the ward leaders and critical stakeholders at the meeting that his emergence as the Chairman of Eastern Obolo will usher in a new era of hope, peace, unity and brings light to every part of the Local Government.

Speaking further, Mr. Emigbanam reveals that his aspiration is fueled by his burning desire and passion to serve the people of Eastern Obolo at the grassroot with a clear intent to change the narrative, restore peace, foster development and address the yearnings of the Obolo People with the fear of God. 

The Member representing Ikot Abasi/Eastern Obolo State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Hon. Selinah Ukpatu in her remark noted that Comr. Emigbanam Ubulom has served the Party meritoriously to be considered a reliable Chairman of Eastern Obolo LGA. She applauded his good blueprint while encouraging him to consult widely and indiscriminately. 

Hon. Uro Bill Nango, the Transition Committee Chairman of Eastern Obolo who was present at the meeting accepted the candidature of Comr. Emigbanam for the chairmanship race.  Hon Bill said that Comrade Emigbanam Adasi as an indigene of Eastern Obolo from the ward favored by the zoning system reserves the constitutional right to contest in the Local Government poll. The Transition Chairman however, admonished him to recognize the three cardinal factors of Human, Government and God that birth victories in politics

The stakeholders in a unanimous decision noted that the existing zoning arrangement of the Chairmanship position in Eastern Obolo LGA favors the Chairmanship hopeful, Comr. Emigbanam Adasi who hails from Ward II of Zone A which has not produced a Chairman of the Local Government since its creation.

In the same vein, the acting Chairman of the Forum who presided over the meeting, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Charles C. Mbong thanked Comr. Emigbanam Adasi Ubulom for deeming it fit to consult the Ward leaders and Stakeholders. He eulogized the potentials, competence and credibility of the leading chairmanship aspirant. Dr. Charles commended on the antecedents, integrity, hard-work, and the leadership prowess of Comr. Ubulom.

Other stakeholders who spoke at the meeting encouraged the frontline aspirant, in the spirits of mutuality and inclusivity, to widen his consultation, as the Elders Forum will only rely on the yearning of the masses in giving her support to any aspirant.

The Chairmanship hopeful expressed his appreciation for the godly advices and considerations by the Stakeholders and pledged to serve the good people of Eastern Obolo with the fear of God.
